It’s go time. We’ve got snow on the trails, people. Which means it’s time to get serious about those all-inclusive ski packages and snowboarding passes, yes, but also, just as important, what you’re going to wear. Wait, you weren’t planning to wear last winter’s jacket and pants, were you? Half the fun is loading up on fresh clothes and gear every season. If you can use them to the fullest of their capability, more power to you.
In the olden days, we needed to opt for fashion or function. Either you stayed toasty and dry and looked about as exciting as the slush at the bottom of the mountain or you made a brash statement—and then retreated to the lodge because you were frigid and soaked from your first and only fall. Those days are behind us, which is a good thing for many reasons, not the least of which is your, shall we say, ongoing interest in falling?
More than that, performance wear, over the last couple of years, has caught up to street (or everyday) fashion, though it’s never been as evident as it is this winter, when bold, mismatched prints and patterns will be every bit as dominant on the slopes as they are on the sidewalks. Women, check out Roxy’s floral prints and Burton’s graphic patterns. Both are likely to trigger hallucinations at high speeds. Guys, look to Dakine for subdued, retro-looking patterns and Colour Wear for clean, modern designs. Even when you’re wearing three or four layers, you’ll cut an impressive silhouette.
We look forward to seeing you on the trails. Seriously, make an impression on us.
